Here are the steps on how to take your IL CDL Class A Permit Test:
Meet the eligibility requirements. To be eligible to take the IL CDL Class A Permit Test, you must:
Be at least 18 years old
Have a valid driver’s license from any state
Pass a vision test
Pass a criminal background check
Get a CDL permit application. You can get a CDL permit application from any Illinois Secretary of State Driver Services facility.
Complete the application. The application will ask for your personal information, including your name, address, date of birth, and driver’s license number. You will also need to provide proof of identity and residency.
Pay the application fee. The application fee is $36.
Schedule your test. You can schedule your test online or by calling the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.
Take the test. The test consists of 50 questions. You must answer at least 40 questions correctly (80%) to pass.
Receive your results. You will receive your results immediately after taking the test. If you pass, you will be issued a CDL permit.
