I’m seeking my drivers license back. Please advise me to get my drivers license in Maryland.

Q) I had my Mississippi drivers license until Aug 2016. Since I left USA and I didn’t renew it. No I am working in USDA Beltsville after coming back from Sri Lanka and now I’m seeking my drivers license back. Please advise me to get my drivers license in Maryland.

A) To get a new Maryland driver’s license, you must go in person to your local MVA office and present your current driver’s license OR a certified driving record from your previous state. You will also need to pay the fee of $9 per year (your driver’s license will be valid from 5 to 8 years) and pass a vision screening. You will also need to prove your age and identity with documents such as an original or certified copy of your birth certificate or a valid U.S. passport. Additionally, you will need to prove your Social Security number with documents such as your Social Security card or a W-2 form.

Again here are the steps on how to get your driver’s license in Maryland after having a Mississippi driver’s license:

  1. Go to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) website and schedule an appointment.
  2. Gather the required documents. These include:
    • Your valid foreign passport
    • Your Mississippi driver’s license (if you have it)
    • Proof of your Social Security number
    • Proof of your Maryland residency (such as a utility bill or lease agreement)
    • Proof of your identity (such as a birth certificate or passport)
    • Proof of your vision (such as a vision test certificate)
  3. Bring the required documents to your appointment at the MVA.
  4. Take the knowledge and driving tests.
  5. Pay the applicable fees.
  6. Receive your Maryland driver’s license.

Here are some additional tips for getting your driver’s license in Maryland:

  • You can apply for a Maryland driver’s license even if your Mississippi driver’s license is expired.
  • You may be exempt from taking the knowledge and driving tests if you have a valid driver’s license from another state.
  • You can apply for a Maryland driver’s license online or in person at any MVA branch office.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other
