What do I need to do to get an F endorsement on my License?

What do I need to do to get an F endorsement on License?

  1. Check Your State’s DMV/DOJ Requirements
    Requirements vary! For example:
    • In California, an “F” endorsement is for driving vehicles with 10–15 passengers, including the driver.
    • In New York, it allows you to operate vehicles like taxis or liveries.
  2. Have the Right Base License
Usually, you’ll need a Class C license (non-commercial) or possibly a commercial driver’s license (CDL) depending on vehicle type and passenger count.
  3. Submit a Medical Examination Report
If transporting passengers, a medical exam may be required (especially for commercial-type endorsements).
  4. Get a Background Check
Often required for anyone transporting the public, especially if children are involved (e.g. school buses).
  5. Pass a Written Knowledge Test
    The written exam covers:
    • Passenger safety
    • Rules for transporting people
    • Emergency procedures
    • Vehicle inspection
  6. Pass a Road/Skills Test (in some cases)
Especially if you’re operating larger or more complex vehicles.
  7. Pay the Application and Endorsement Fee
    Fees vary by state.
