The Pelham, Alabama DMV office is located at 1022 County Services Drive, Pelham, AL 35124. The main phone number is (205) 610-0935.

The Pelham AL DMV Office Service Center, located at 1022 County Services Bldg, offers a variety of driver’s license and vehicle registration services. However, it’s important to distinguish between two types of services offered in Alabama:

  • Driver’s License Services: Handled by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA)
  • Vehicle Registration Services: Handled by Shelby County Tag Office

Driver’s License Services at Pelham AL ALEA Office:

Based on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) website, the Pelham ALEA office likely provides these services:

  • Renewals for driver’s licenses
  • Issuing new driver’s licenses
  • Obtaining a learner’s permit (written test required)
  • Road tests and knowledge tests: It’s important to note that while the website doesn’t explicitly mention it for this location, other ALEA offices in Alabama handle these services. It’s best to contact the Pelham office directly to confirm if they offer them on-site or require an appointment/referral to another testing location.
  • Replacing lost or damaged driver’s licenses

Vehicle Registration Services at Shelby County Tag Office:

The Shelby County website clarifies that vehicle registration services are handled by the Shelby County Tag Office. These likely include:

  • Vehicle registration and renewals
  • Title transfers

Here’s how you can confirm the most up-to-date information:

  • Call the Pelham AL Driver License Office: (205) 610-0935. This is the most reliable way to confirm current driver’s license services and their hours of operation (which are Monday-Friday, 8AM-4PM).
  • Visit the Shelby County Tag Office website: for information on vehicle registration services offered and their hours of operation.

Although both Driver’s License and Vehicle Registration services are housed in the same County Services Building, they are handled by separate entities. By following the suggestions above, you can ensure you have the most accurate details for your specific needs.

Alabama DMV offices offer road tests, permit tests, out-of-state transfers, and STAR ID’s. Walk-ins are welcome at all Driver License Offices, but some offices offer online scheduling. Appointments can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.

To renew an Alabama driver’s license, you’ll need:

  • Driver’s License Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Last 4 of SSN
  • Credit Card
  • Printer to print your temporary license

You can verify your Social Security Number by providing one of the following documents:

  • Social Security Card
  • A certified letter (on letterhead) from the Social Security Administration stating the person’s name and Social Security Number

My experience at Pelham AL DMV office – Bev: Very poor customer service. I tried all day 4/24/15 and all morning today April 27th and no one ever answers the phone!!! How are we to communicate with you? We are an out-of-state dealership. We sent a title to you Feb. 2 and the lienholder states they have not received the Title yet and it is almost May….
