We have relocated and need to change our address on our licenses. Can we do that at the Hinesville, GA facility and do we need to bring anything with us?

A) You have two options for changing your address on your Georgia driver’s license:
- In Person: Yes, you can visit the Hinesville Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) Customer Service Center to update your address.
- Online: If you are a U.S. citizen and a Georgia resident, you can change your address online through the DDS Online Services Portal https://dds.georgia.gov/georgia-licenseid/existing-licenseid/how-do-i-update-license.
Here’s what you’ll need to bring to the Hinesville DDS if you go in person:
- Your current Georgia driver’s license
- Proof of your new address:
- If you have a Real ID driver’s license (gold or black star in the upper right corner) you only need one document.
- If you don’t have a Real ID, you’ll need two documents from the list of approved documents on the DDS website https://dds.georgia.gov/georgia-licenseid/existing-licenseid/how-do-i-update-license
Additional Tips:
- Make sure your new address is registered with the United States Post Office (USPS) as the DDS will verify your address through them.
- There may be wait times at the DDS, so you can check the DDS website https://dds.georgia.gov/locations/hinesville for current wait times or make an appointment (appointments are only required for road tests).
