What proof of address do you need to get an MS ID

A) To get an MS ID, you will need to provide two proofs of residency. Any item presented to establish proof of residency must include the applicant’s name and a Mississippi residence address (No P.O. boxes will be accepted). No junk mail/soliciting, no envelopes, no handwritten documents/letters will be accepted.

Here are some examples of acceptable proofs of residency:

  • Utility bill (gas, water, electricity)
  • Phone bill
  • Bank statement
  • Lease agreement
  • Mortgage statement
  • Voter registration card
  • Car registration
  • Property tax bill
  • Insurance policy
  • Paycheck with address
  • School enrollment form
  • Government correspondence (e.g., letter from the IRS, Social Security Administration, etc.)

If you are unable to provide two proofs of residency, you may be able to sign an affidavit of domicile. This is a document that states that you are a Mississippi resident and that you live at the address you are providing. The affidavit must be signed by a notary public.

You can find more information about the Mississippi ID requirements on the Mississippi Department of Public Safety website.
